Adjunct Cello Faculty Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Cello Faculty member to join our team at the Frederick Campus of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching cello in the Young People's String Program (YPSP) and the String Department at the Frederick Campus. This includes teaching cello to students of various skill levels, from beginners to advanced levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach cello in the YPSP and String Department
  • Develop and implement lesson plans to meet the needs of students
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback
  • Attend faculty meetings and contribute to the evolution of the department
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills
Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Music or a related field, with a Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching young children and have completed cello pedagogy classes or workshops.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching Suzuki repertoire
  • Comfort teaching repertoire outside of and beyond Suzuki books
  • Awareness of the broad mission of the Peabody Institute and the Tuned-In program
