Job Summary

The Pharmacy Automation Specialist IV will be responsible for maintaining all unit-dose medications required for daily dispensing from the Omnicell automated IV equipment. This role will prepare and maintain the Omnicell IV automated equipment for daily use, perform advanced equipment troubleshooting, maintain optimal medication inventory levels, and review/maintain reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform IV automation tasks in an aseptic, error-free manner, consistent with prescribed guidelines.
  • Perform IV automation equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when handling medications.
  • Identify and order medications to ensure medication inventories are at optimal levels.
  • Monitor and order consumable supplies required for the operation of the equipment.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and prescribed maintenance of IV automation equipment; report unresolved equipment issues to the IV HD.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with the Pharmacy Services Manager and customers to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem identification and resolution.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program to provide customer-focused support, emphasizing quality, professionalism, and responsiveness.
  • Act as a liaison between OMCL and the customer to assist with customer concerns.
  • Comply with IV compounding procedures, policies, and guidelines established by the customer facility.
  • Complete negative fingertip and media fill sampling.
  • Maintain state and/or national credentialing to meet established guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Active License/Registration with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Active Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT); PTCB or ExCPT tests accepted.
  • Working knowledge of IV compounding.
