Job Summary

KARL STORZ Endoscopy - America is seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Engineer to lead the project/design leadership of new product development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and project management, with experience in design and development of medical products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead international teams of engineers and technicians to ensure on-time delivery of new products to the market.
  • Develop and upgrade KARL STORZ products, including associated components and accessories, as well as the construction and testing of prototypes.
  • Collaborate with production and technical personnel to document all phases of product testing and transition.
  • Develop and refine test protocols, and investigate failures with corrective action recommendations.
  • Develop prototype and manufacturing tooling, and serve as a technical resource for manufacturability of designs.
  • Act as a key contributor on regional and global project teams, and regularly communicate with other KARL STORZ locations regarding project updates.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in a Design or Project Engineering environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in a medical product development environment.
  • 2+ years of project management experience.
  • International communication skills and proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and Microsoft packages.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work with small parts and computers for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Tool shop experience.
  • Previous experience leading project teams and/or supervising technical employees.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
Working Conditions
  • Must be punctual and able to sustain attendance guidelines.
  • Must have sufficient visual capacity to make judgments concerning the quality of components, subassemblies, and/or finished products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and analyze root causes of technical issues.
Quality and Safety
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the company's policies and procedures as they relate to the requirements of the KS Quality System.
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of safety and comply with all environmental and safety laws and regulations.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
  • Ability to maintain productive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, subordinates, and superiors, as well as with KARL STORZ customers.
  • Ability to prepare written reports in a professional manner.
