CNC Programming and Manufacturing Expert

At TPI, INC, we are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer to join our team.
Job DescriptionThe Senior CNC Programmer is responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining computer numeric controlled (CNC) equipment. This role works closely with the Engineering team to produce prototype parts, production composite parts, and manufacturing tooling and fixtures.
- Sets up and operates 3, 5, and 7-axis machines; has extensive knowledge in fixturing and part setup.
- Reads engineering drawings, specifications, and interprets customer requirements.
- Creates 3-7 axis tool paths utilizing CAD/CAM software.
- Understands speeds and feeds and edits G & M code from CNC controller.
- Determines methods, tooling, feeds, speeds, and all necessary requirements for manufacturing of parts.
- Has a solid understanding of manufacturing processes for layup, trim, and assembly of composite hardware.
- Determines methods, cutter types, and cutting parameters depending on various materials (composites, epoxies, steel, aluminum, etc.) and design specifications.
- Collaborates with process engineers on planning of manufacturing process to ensure quality and design objectives are achieved.
- Troubleshoots and solves problems with machines, tooling, and program malfunctions.
- Identifies composite damage.
- Maintains machine operations and adjusts as necessary to maintain quality and productivity.
- Trains new employees to operate CNC machines and programs.
- Closely collaborates with engineering teams to provide crucial input on design for manufacturability.
- Communicates effectively with engineers, management, and other team members.
- Learns and adapts to new CNC software as needed.
- Manages multiple projects in different stages of development.
- Works independently with vendors to seek out solutions.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An engineering or engineering technology degree and at least 7 years of CNC programming experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous CNC experience working with composite materials is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- CAM programming with Mastercam is preferred.
- Manual machining experience is a plus.
- The ability to utilize standard inspection tools to verify parts meet print specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is beneficial.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 is preferred.
Our ideal candidate is a strong organizational leader who can work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
We estimate the salary for this position to be between $110,000 - $140,000 per year, based on the required skills and qualifications and the location.
