Position Overview: Wastewater Treatment Operator III
As a critical member of Liberty Utilities, the Wastewater Treatment Operator III is responsible for the effective management and enhancement of wastewater treatment facilities. Reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor, this role involves performing essential technical and mechanical duties to ensure optimal functionality and upkeep of treatment and conveyance systems. The position emphasizes daily operational tasks, training programs, and a strong commitment to safety and compliance with regulatory standards. Your contributions will be vital to the sustainability and operational efficiency of our wastewater management services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the operations team to carry out daily functions, including the operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, while strictly following established protocols.
- Provide comprehensive training to Operators on equipment usage, instrumentation, microbiology, process control, and safety procedures.
- Engage in administrative responsibilities, such as drafting plant directives, suggesting process enhancements, and investigating innovative treatment technologies.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by maintaining clear communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to industry safety regulations, policies, and procedures, guaranteeing compliance with all relevant laws.
- Perform routine and emergency operational, maintenance, construction, and repair tasks, prioritizing effectively in the field.
- Conduct daily inspections of wastewater treatment facilities, aquifer recharge sites, and associated equipment.
- Respond to operational emergencies as necessary, which may include on-call and shift work.
- Provide technical and physical support to operations staff, contractors, and developers.
- Assist customers with water-related inquiries, ensuring quality service and addressing concerns such as odors and vector control.
- Coordinate all activities in line with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Guide peers and subordinates in their daily work activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in plumbing, well operations, distribution, collection water, and/or wastewater treatment.
- At least 12 months of experience as a field Operator II or in a comparable role.
- ADEQ Grade 3 Operator License in Wastewater Treatment is mandatory.
- In-depth knowledge of wells, pumps, motors, chlorine generators, plumbing principles, and utility enhancements.
- A valid driver's license is required; a CDL may be necessary.
- Ability to interpret maps, manuals, blueprints, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Strong written communication skills for maintaining daily records and reports.
- Capability to provide occasional guidance to co-workers in the absence of a Senior Operator or Supervisor.
- Analytical judgment and decision-making skills in diverse work scenarios.
