Job Responsibilities
Oversees and directs the activities of direct care personnel (C.N.A.) in the execution of health-related tasks. Provides education and counseling as necessary. Conducts staff meetings and offers in-service training as required. Collaborates with Nursing Supervisors and Unit Managers on pertinent issues as needed. Performs daily assessments of high-risk residents or those with wounds in accordance with facility protocols, including turning and repositioning per established standards. Acts in the capacity of Unit Manager when required. May be tasked with covering the Assisted Living Unit or any Nursing Unit as necessary. Observes and evaluates the physical and emotional well-being of all residents, taking appropriate actions when needed. Assesses residents for medical and specialist needs. Engages with physicians, documenting and implementing orders as required or scheduling appointments as directed. Accompanies physicians on rounds when necessary. Ensures the unit is maintained in a clean state and that equipment not in use is stored properly. Completes all necessary documentation associated with the role, including but not limited to incident reports, charting, referrals, assessments, admissions, and reports to incoming staff. Records medication administration and treatments in the residents' electronic health records. Documents resident behaviors and other monitored requirements. Records changes in resident health through acute care nurse's notes and shift change reports. Verifies medication accuracy with the pharmacy and notifies them of any discrepancies. Prepares and administers medications and treatments in accordance with established procedures. Responsible for the management of medications and equipment within the unit, ensuring a tidy and organized work environment. Monitors the inventory of essential supplies for nursing care and informs Central Supply or Nursing Supervisors of any needs. Oversees the medication refrigerator to ensure all medications are current and properly ordered. Assists with in-house activities as nursing schedules allow. Notifies staff when ill residents are unable to participate in activities and when they may resume. Coordinates with activity staff as necessary. Ensures that appropriate safety measures for residents and staff are adhered to. Ensures residents are clean and well-groomed, reporting any issues to the Unit Manager or Nursing Supervisor. Monitors the cleanliness and functionality of resident items such as dentures, glasses, and hearing aids, reporting any required repairs to the appropriate personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a current Licensed Practical Nursing license or Registered Nurse license in the state of Virginia.
Additional Considerations
CPR certification is required upon hire or the willingness to obtain it.

Salaries for current state employees will be determined according to the current state compensation plan.

Compensation
RN pay range is $42.30.
