Lateral Police Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lateral Police Officer to join our team at the City of Lakewood. As a valued member of our department, you will be responsible for ensuring public safety, enforcing laws and ordinances, and providing exceptional customer service to our community.

• Patrol designated areas of the city to prevent and respond to crimes, and provide emergency assistance as needed.
• Conduct investigations into reported crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
• Enforce laws and ordinances, issue citations and warnings, and make arrests when necessary.
• Respond to emergency calls, provide first aid and medical assistance, and operate police equipment such as firearms, vehicles, and communication devices.
• Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports, arrest reports, and other documentation.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college-level coursework in law enforcement or a related field preferred.
• Graduation from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Basic Law Enforcement Academy or state-approved equivalent required.
• At least 5 years of experience as a commissioned police officer within the last 5 years.
• A valid Washington state driver's license by hire date.
• Satisfactory results of a thorough background investigation, polygraph examination, and medical evaluation.
