Position Overview:
This role involves the setup and operation of welding machinery, specifically for the manual welding of components that bear pressure. The individual will be responsible for overseeing the welding process and ensuring product quality, making adjustments as necessary to guarantee a consistent output of high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shift Availability: Primarily seeking candidates for the first shift.
  • Compensation: Starting pay at $17.50 per hour.
  • Educational Support: Tuition reimbursement available, up to $10,000 annually.

Essential Duties: The following tasks are essential to this position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

  • Interprets blueprints and identifies component parts.
  • Configures operational settings on welding equipment and monitors performance, making necessary adjustments.
  • Aligns and assembles components accurately.
  • Welds various components, including fabricated, cast, and stamped parts, to construct tanks and pressure vessels.
  • Conducts initial inspections before commencing production runs.
  • Utilizes required gauges and inspection criteria to assess product quality.
  • Operates lifting equipment as required.
  • Actively participates in safety, environmental, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Adheres to all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines and protocols.
  • Understands and follows Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and EHS Work Instructions.
  • Reports unsafe conditions or incidents promptly to supervisors or management.
  • Initiates process shutdown if safety is compromised.
  • Follows proper procedures for machine shutdown.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Completion of required in-house training is mandatory.

Language Proficiency:
Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, blueprints, measuring tools, and operational manuals.

Mathematical Skills:
Proficient in basic arithmetic operations.

Certifications:
Must meet Manchester Tank & Equipment's welding certification standards (if applicable) and lockout/tagout certification requirements (if applicable).

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include:

  • Regularly standing and using hands for manipulation.
  • Frequent walking and occasional stooping or kneeling.
  • Ability to lift and move objects, with assistance for items over 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision capabilities, including close and peripheral vision.
  • Willingness to work overtime as production demands dictate.

Work Environment:
This position involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and a high noise level, necessitating the use of hearing protection and other safety equipment at all times during production.
