We are seeking a visionary and results-driven individual to join our team as a Manager, Nursing Practice and Education at Providence Healthcare. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and managing our nursing professional practice team, providing optimal leadership in matters of nursing professional practice and education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the nursing professional practice team, implementing strategies to build and foster a culture of respect, trust, and lifelong learning.
  • Provide professional practice direction and education for the nursing professional practice & education team, managers, and staff.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate short and long-term plans that support and advance nursing practice and nursing standards.
  • Promote a culture of reflective practice, providing nursing-specific leadership and mentoring in an evidence-based continuous learning and research-based practice environment.
  • Develop and implement an evidence-informed and cost-effective site-specific nursing orientation program, ensuring alignment with unit/program-based orientation.
  • Lead and manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of the site's nursing education program, maximizing nursing scope of practice and enabling continuous professional development.
  • Promote continuous quality improvement initiatives to ensure ongoing professional development of nursing staff.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of excellent care to all patients and families.
  • Lead in the collaboration and management of interprofessional education programs and interventions that promote excellence in inter-professional practice and patient-centered care.
  • Manage the development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of quality improvement initiatives, aligning with Unity Health Toronto's Corporate Strategic Plan, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide leadership and act as a resource for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor regulatory/practice updates and changes, developing and/or supporting the implementation of necessary changes in nursing practice.
  • Collaborate in the development of budgets for the utilization of resources to support corporate and site-specific nursing practice initiatives and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform and plan operations responsibilities to facilitate the achievement of corporate/program objectives and create a healthy workplace that maximizes the potential of nursing staff.
  • Engage in knowledge translation and mobilization, ensuring that innovations are measured, sustained, outcomes improved, and findings disseminated.
  • Represent Unity Health Toronto in the external community, building partnerships, translating new knowledge and innovations, and promoting scholarship.
Qualifications:
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing and/or Adult Education or other relevant field, required.
  • Clinical appointment with a Faculty of Nursing or eligible for appointment.
  • Three (3) years' previous management or leadership experience, including professional practice and educational experience, required.
  • Minimum five (5) years' previous clinical experience.
  • Well-developed leadership competencies, including negotiation, active listening, participative leadership style, ability to inspire others, articulate a vision for rehab nursing practice, nursing education, delegation, influencing, goal setting, achievement-oriented, coaching skills, etc.
  • Demonstrated evidence of strong knowledge on regulatory standards, organizational policies/guidelines, and evidence-based practices.
  • Strong teaching and adult learning skills required.
  • Current membership in a related professional interest group preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of the professional and regulatory environment that influences nursing practice and education, required.
  • Well-developed knowledge of, and recent experience in, evidence-based curriculum development, delivery, and evaluation required.
  • Strong change management and project management skills required.
