Position Details:

Responsibilities of the Patient Care Technician:

  • Respond to patient needs by managing call lights, assisting with personal hygiene, obtaining vital signs, and communicating effectively with the care team.
  • Perform EKG duties in accordance with training and competency.
  • Apply and document restraints as instructed by the RN or physician.
  • Conduct wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.
  • Manage equipment and tube care, including JPs, hemovacs, nasogastric tubes, and Foley removal.
  • Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges while adhering to safe patient handling principles.
  • Order and maintain office and patient care supplies.
  • Fulfill unit secretary duties, including maintaining patient charts, responding to phone inquiries, and providing accurate patient information to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Support physicians and RNs as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within a specified timeframe with prior approval.

Physical Requirements:

The role necessitates the ability to see and read information, assess patient needs, operate medical equipment, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers. Frequent lifting and movement to assist patients and manage supplies are essential.
