The Mobile Mechanic is a key member of our team at Crawford Thomas Recruiting, responsible for maintaining the fleet of commercial vehicles and handling service calls at client locations. As a Mobile Mechanic, you will provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of technical expertise.
Responsibilities:- Maintain Fleet Equipment: Ensure all aspects of equipment are maintained according to company standards.
- Basic Maintenance: Handle basic maintenance tasks, including fueling, oil checks, and cleaning, to ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
- Inventory Control: Manage inventory control on the service truck and maintain a well-stocked vehicle.
- Reporting and Communication: Report to the Service Manager and be available for daily assignments.
- After-Hours Service Calls: Be available for after-hours service calls and maintain an open work schedule.
- Tool Inventory: Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for diesel engine trucks and associated equipment.
- Diagnostic and Repair: Utilize diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and perform correct repair procedures.
- Technical Knowledge: Possess beginning knowledge of diagnosis, removal, and replacement of injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, batteries, and transmissions.
- Documentation: Perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
- Safety and Quality: Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments as needed.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance work as requested.
- Customer Service: Respond to customer inquiries, foster positive customer relations, and advise customers of necessary repairs or services.

- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience: 2 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
- CDL and Medical Card: Possess a current and valid CDL and Medical card as required by the FMVS.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Possess mechanical aptitude and technical ability.
- Driver's License: Possess a current and valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company's insurance carrier.
- $27/hr - $32/hr
