Job Summary

As a Truck Driver at Food City Distribution Center, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer rig over established routes to deliver merchandise to stores and customers. You will also assist with loading and unloading products, preparing paperwork, and maintaining the rig for delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of equipment, including checking for fluid leaks, damage to tires, and proper functioning of safety equipment.
  • Drive over established routes to make deliveries and pick-ups, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Assist in loading and unloading merchandise, using pallet jacks and other equipment as needed.
  • Prepare paperwork, including accurate counting and reporting of products delivered and/or picked up.
  • Perform yard-switching duties, including detaching and reattaching trailers, as required.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 12 months of verifiable Class A commercial driving experience or recent CDL school graduates from a vetted school.
  • Successfully complete the Food City Distribution Center Road Test, with emphasis on backing skills.
  • Ability to handle and complete paperwork associated with the Truck Driver position.
  • Excellent driving record, with no chargeable accidents or violations.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and ability to operate a loaded pallet jack and power lifts.
  • Ability to be punctual with time management and delivery schedules, and work independently with minimum supervision.
