Operating Room Nurse

Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced and compassionate Operating Room Registered Nurses (OR RNs) to join our surgical team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for providing care to patients before, during, and after surgery in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures, ensuring proper consent forms are completed, and preoperative assessments are conducted.
- Assist surgeons and other medical professionals during surgery by passing instruments, sponges, and other necessary items.
- Monitor patients vital signs and conditions throughout the surgery, ensuring patient safety and proper care.
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room by following strict protocols and infection control procedures.
- Provide post-operative care, including monitoring recovery and ensuring patients are stable before transitioning to post-op or recovery areas.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in accordance with hospital policies and standards.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other OR staff to ensure efficient and effective surgical procedures.
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and ongoing training to stay updated with the latest surgical nursing practices.
- Ensure all surgical instruments and supplies are accounted for and properly sterilized after procedures.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Mexico.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
