Position Overview

The Head of Equipment Maintenance is an active role responsible for overseeing preventative and routine maintenance activities within our food production facility. This position collaborates with staff to diagnose issues, interpret schematics, rectify equipment failures, and ensure optimal efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability of all machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct machine maintenance, disassemble equipment, and prepare setups for daily operations.
  • Implement preventative maintenance, including daily and weekly inspections of all machinery components.
  • Formulate budgets for maintenance activities, projects, and both major and minor equipment enhancements.
  • Plan, supervise, and guide the work of maintenance personnel.
  • Assess staff performance and collaborate with management on personnel matters.
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Be available for overtime and on-call duties for emergency situations, including weekend work as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in food production or facility maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proficient in reading schematics.
  • Familiarity with SQF or other GFSI programs.
  • A degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • A proactive team player who adapts quickly to new challenges and is open to change.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical expertise.
  • Ability to operate power tools and work with both high and low voltage systems; must possess personal tools.
  • Knowledge of equipment such as Weber Slicers, Sealers, Multi-Vac, Flow wrappers, and Labelers.
  • Capability to interpret engineering schematics, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in welding.
  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of engaging with personnel at all levels.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
