We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Coordinator to join our team. As the largest community college in Arkansas, NWACC offers a range of associate degrees, certificates, and workforce training programs that prepare students for rewarding futures and careers.

The Laboratory Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures, maintaining and cleaning laboratories and classrooms, inspecting and maintaining laboratory safety equipment, and preparing chemicals and other supplies needed for science classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment by reporting accidents or incidents to lab supervisors, lead faculty, and deans, and comply with all department safety procedures.
  • Prepare supplies for Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Geology, Microbiology, and Anatomy and Physiology classes, including preparation of chemicals, verifying chemical quality, retrieving preserved specimens and models, preparing media aseptically, restocking laboratory kits, and breaking carts when complete.
  • Maintain classroom/laboratories by cleaning rooms, cleaning returning lab supplies, washing and maintaining laboratory equipment, and assisting with clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist laboratory supervisors as needed, help with solarium duties, assist with making chemicals and laboratory supplies for Washington County laboratories, and greet and direct students and visitors.
  • Help maintain laboratory equipment, clean and repair microscopes, assist with computer issues involving laboratory equipment, operate autoclaves, and build online science laboratory kits for online classes.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree (AS or AA) preferred.
  • Knowledge of college-level chemistry, handling biohazardous waste, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to schedule laboratories, maintain laboratory kits, answer questions from faculty, students, and staff members regarding laboratory safety and other aspects of laboratories.
  • Skills in Microsoft Excel and Word, pipetting, and juggling multiple laboratory procedures at once.

Compensation: $14.00 per hour
