Full Time Day Shift, Monday-Friday. We are seeking the next champion for the Patient Access Specialist role. This position is accountable for executing admission responsibilities for all patients seeking services at the facility.
They must carry out these duties while aligning with the organization’s mission and objectives, as well as adhering to all regulatory compliance standards.
The Representative will operate within the established policies and procedures throughout the organization.Job Responsibilities:
Patient Access staff are tasked with assigning accurate Medical Record Numbers (MRNs), conducting medical necessity and compliance assessments, providing appropriate patient instructions, collecting insurance details, processing physician orders, and utilizing an overlay tool while delivering exceptional customer service as evaluated by Press Ganey.
Adherence to policies and the provision of excellent customer service during these interactions with the appropriate level of empathy is essential.
Patient Access staff will be accountable for achieving point of service goals as designated.They are responsible for utilizing quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure account accuracy. These tasks may encompass accounts for other personnel, departments, and facilities.
Conducting audits of accounts and ensuring all forms are completed accurately and promptly to meet audit standards while providing statistical data to Patient Access leadership is crucial.
Patient Access Staff are responsible for the pre-registration of patient accounts prior to visits.This may involve both inbound and outbound calls to gather demographic, insurance, and other patient information, including financial liabilities and collecting point of service payments as well as overdue balances, including payment plan options.
The Patient Access Staff will explain general consent for treatment forms to the patient/guarantor/legal guardian, securing necessary signatures and witness names.
They will also explain and distribute patient education materials, such as Important Messages from Medicare, Important Messages from Tricare, Observation Forms, MOON forms, Consent forms, and any forms implemented for future services.
Reviewing eligibility responses in the insurance verification system and accurately selecting the applicable insurance plan code, entering benefit data into the system to support Point of Service Collections and billing processes to assist with a clean claim rate is essential.
They are responsible for accurately screening medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software to inform Medicare patients of potential non-payment of tests by Medicare and distributing the ABN as appropriate.
They will also be responsible for the distribution and documentation of other designated forms and pamphlets.Experience We Value:
