Job Title: Shop Mechanic

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic to join our team at M. J. Electric, LLC. As a Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all types of wire pulling and stringing equipment, heavy equipment, trailers, and vehicles used for electrical construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, compressors, generators, suspensions, brakes, transmissions, fuel injection systems, ignition systems, and air tools.
  • Replace and repair damaged components, perform engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, oil changes, and maintenance checks on all equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all types of heavy equipment, trailers, aerial lift platforms, bulldozers, bucket trucks, and perform annual DOT and Crane Inspections.
  • Perform vehicle preventative maintenance and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (wheeled and tracked) or trucks.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and diagrams.
  • Strong welding (Stick/MIG) and fabrication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one.

Work Environment:

This position requires the ability to remain standing approximately 75% of the time, occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching. The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Occasionally lifting 40 pounds.
