Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at Cal-Western Manufactures. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products and processes, and will play a key role in maintaining our company's reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related issues and implement process improvements.
- Train and mentor quality control technicians on quality control procedures and techniques.
- Develop and maintain documentation of quality procedures, inspection reports, and quality records.
- Establish and enable department goals, strategies, and KPIs.
- Oversee inspection activities and in-process inspection for finished goods throughout production (filling and packaging) cycle.
- Review Production documentation such as Packaging Control Forms (PCFs).
- Review cleaning and sanitization logbooks.
- Verify and validate cleaning and sanitization procedures.
- Monitor regular inspections and tests on finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve quality-related issues, including product defects, non-conformities, and deviations from standards.
- Suggest process improvements and bring up any issues that may have been encountered in filling and packaging operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Engineering, Warehousing, and Supply Chain, to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Train and mentor quality control technicians on quality control procedures, techniques, and tools.
- Assist with quality investigations.
- Execute Change Controls.
- Maintain supply inventory.
- Comply with Retain Management Program per QMS and manage daily product retains.
- Maintain cleanliness and follow good housekeeping practices in the work area.
- Assist in all necessary documentation and recordkeeping functions.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of quality assurance experience, preferably within a manufacturing industry.
- Effective communication, observation, organization, and prioritization skills.
- In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures.
- Good technical and IT skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Good oral and written communication (English) skills, ability to read and interpret specifications and blueprints.
- Ability to use standard measuring equipment, basic math calculations.
- Ability to see the color.
- Basic knowledge of MS-Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook).
- Ability to lift, stand or walk constantly all shift as needed.
- Ability to work independently handling large volumes of work and changing priorities as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in a management position.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and positive team building attitude.
Work Environment:
The Quality Assurance Manager is designated to work primarily in the Production area of operations. The work environment can be fast-paced, with constant changes and interruptions. The work requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and office equipment. Production operations require dexterity and care to perform studies as required. Additionally, the work will require walking, climbing stairs, bending and occasional lifting of material up to fifty (50) pounds. The performance of this position will present exposure to an industrial environment and requires support and compliance with the published Company PPE policy including but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, appropriate attire, safety shoes, etc. It may also involve exposure to hot and cold temperatures, noise, limited dust, and chemicals and require adherence to safety regulations operations. The Quality Assurance Manager may need to work long hours to meet deadlines and resolve issues.
