Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist Senior to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a key member of our cytology laboratory, you will be responsible for performing technical training, scheduling, and assigning duties to cytotechnologists, coordinating quality control procedures, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform In Situ Hybridization techniques and assist with deep Fine Needle aspiration (FNA) and Ultrasound Guided Fine needle Aspiration (US-FNA)
  • Examine cell samples and make primary diagnoses on all cases, including GYN, Non-gyn, and FNA
  • Make final diagnoses on normal limit GYN, preliminary diagnoses on abnormal GYN, and all Non-gyn and FNA
  • Identify and solve problems with initiative and good judgment to reach quality decisions in leading the cytology staff
  • Place orders for equipment and office supplies for Cytology, CDC, and Surgical Pathology
  • Maintain a constant awareness of new technologies and evaluate tests offered for accuracy, precision, and economy
Requirements
  • Certified as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology within 6 months of employment
  • Current CT (ASCP) certification
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical work experience as a Cytotechnologist
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Science (Cytotechnology Track) from an accredited program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Health Education, Cytotechnology, or Clinical Lab Science from an accredited program
