Senior Lawyer - Criminal Defense

The Law Firm of Michael J. Smith and Associates, PLLC is seeking an experienced senior lawyer to lead our criminal defense team.

We are a highly respected, family-owned law firm specializing in criminal defense, adoption, and entertainment law. With decades of experience, we provide exceptional legal representation to our clients.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in criminal defense law and possess excellent leadership skills. A proactive approach, quick adaptability, and capacity for rapid learning are essential qualities for this role.

We offer a competitive salary range of $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience and skills. In addition to a base salary, we also offer performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including major medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan with a generous match.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the criminal defense team and manage a substantial client load.
• Demonstrate adaptability and problem-solving skills to handle the dynamic nature of the current caseload.
• Interview new clients and meet with existing clients to provide legal advice.
• Perform legal research to determine how the facts of a case interact with current law.
• Argue motions and attend other pretrial court appearances before a judge.
• Argue trials at state and local levels.
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, contracts, and wills.
• Follow up after a court decision has been handed down or a settlement has been reached, ensuring that all parties to the action do what they've been committed or ordered to do.
