Quality Control Fabrication Inspector

SAS Global Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Fabrication Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are met in the production of our premium abrasion resistant steels and hard facing materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect all manufactured products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards
- Perform visual inspections of processed materials to detect visual defects, dimensional correctness, and joint condition
- Examine weld joints for flaws, such as cracks, cold lap, spatter, porosity, weld size, and undercut
- Ensure products conform to blueprint, work instructions, work order specifications, and layout
- Identify defective pieces, qualify/disqualify all products in hold areas, and work with manufacturing leadership to alleviate defects
- Document all products with appropriate forms and photographs
- Monitor SAS equipment calibration program
- Work hand in hand with manufacturing personnel to meet schedule demands
- Maintain and develop PQRs, WPS, and ensure welder qualifications are kept up to date
- Adhere to all safety and quality standards
Requirements
- Minimum of ten years manufacturing or fabrication experience
- Blueprint reading skills
- Math skills (basic shop math, algebra, geometry)
- Advanced welding knowledge and understanding of AWS D1.1 preferred
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred
- Ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, Vernier caliper, dial caliper, protractor, and combination square
- Knowledge of ISO-9001:2015 or ASME preferred
- ISO-9001:2015 lead auditor preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook) preferred
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Shop environment with dirty/dusty conditions, loud noises, and frequent lifting of approximately 50lbs. On feet most of the day.
