Staff Registered Nurse III

Kaiser Permanente nurses are guided by an integrated nursing model that prioritizes patient-centered care. As a Staff Registered Nurse III, you will practice professional nursing as defined by the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act and organizational policies. Your role will involve providing high-quality, safe, and effective care to patients, members, and families.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to assess patient health status, determine nursing diagnoses, establish goals, and develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing plan of care.
- Complete patient outcomes and address care gaps during patient encounters.
- Accurately document patient data, actions, interventions, and response to treatment according to established policies and guidelines.
- Assist with procedures and monitor patients' responses during and after procedures.
- Participate in the healthcare team to engage patients, families, and caregivers in patient care coordination.
- Lead the nursing response to medical emergencies.
- Monitor electronic messaging and emails related to patient or provider requests and manage messages or triage them to physicians, associate practitioners, or others as needed.
- Initiate and monitor IV therapy, medication administration, and other nursing procedures as prescribed by physicians or associate practitioners, and document accordingly.
- Assess patient and family health education needs, provide health teaching and counseling, and evaluate the effectiveness of the education process.
- Conduct outgoing telephone calls to patients requiring follow-up care and preventative outreach.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and initiatives.
- Participate in departmental orientation, training, and competency validation of new staff.
- Lead departmental or regional performance improvement initiatives.
- Autonomously perform procedures under provider supervision and evaluate patients' responses during and after procedures.
- Serve as a preceptor, resource, and mentor for new healthcare team members and nursing students.
- Provide at least one training in-service per year.
- Seek and complete formal continuing education relevant to clinical disciplines.
- Utilize advanced skills to provide patient care, education, and consultation.
- Autonomously perform procedures under physician supervision, such as cardiac stress tests, RN sonography, conscious sedation, or chemotherapy infusions.
- Minimum three years of current RN clinical experience.
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in the area of specialty.
- Associates degree in nursing.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support required at hire.
- ACC/CDU: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) at time of hire or within six months.
- Infusion Services: Biotherapy/Chemotherapy Certification.
- Specialty Certification at time of hire or within one year.
- Bachelors (BSN) degree.
