Resident Engineer

About the Role
HNTB is seeking a highly skilled Resident Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall field management of our contracts, administration, and coordination on complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project scope and fee quotations, and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
- Coordinate project activities, establish priorities, and staff to jobs. Prepare Summary Inspection Report of Daily activities. Monitor contractor progress and compare with the reviewed progress schedule.
- Oversee project controls, including checking contractors' controls and coordinating schedules. Review contractors' schedules.
- Review submittals for conformance to plans and specifications. Develop strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.
- Implement the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Lead the development and execution of the project management plan. Supervise and mentor team to overall project objectives.
- Provide interpretation and enforcement of contract plans and specifications. Develop strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.
- Confirm change order requests, develop estimates, negotiate costs, and write change orders.
- Provide cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.
- Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA).
Requirements
- Fundamentals of Engineering certification.
- All jurisdictional certificates.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant experience in roadway infrastructure construction.
- Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) certification and experience.
