Job OverviewPosition Title: Youth Ministry Coordinator
Status: Part-Time, 20 hours per week
Reports To: Director of Youth Ministry
Salary Review: Annually by Executive Team

POSITION SUMMARY
The Youth Ministry Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission and vision of Word of Peace by delivering administrative and programmatic assistance to youth and confirmation ministry initiatives. This position is designed to nurture and empower volunteers and families in their spiritual journeys, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes faith development across all age groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Administrative Duties
    • Facilitate administrative tasks and communication for confirmation and youth ministry programs.
    • Assist with the operational needs of the confirmation ministry and all aspects related to Affirmation of Baptism.
  2. Volunteer Management
    • Collaborate with confirmation and youth ministry staff to train and support volunteer leaders.
    • Welcome, register, and provide hospitality to families involved in confirmation.
  3. Database Oversight
    • Utilize the church's database system to manage schedules, small groups, and registrations.
  4. Event Coordination
    • Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Youth Ministry and the Youth Ministry Leader for various events related to middle school, high school, and special Children, Youth, and Family ministries.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  1. Relational Engagement
    • Establish and nurture relationships with children, youth, and families within the church and broader community.
    • Offer relational ministry to a diverse group of children, youth, and parents.
  2. Team Collaboration
    • Work collaboratively with creative colleagues in a multi-staff ministry environment.
    • Participate in weekly staff meetings and annual retreats as required.
  3. Program Involvement
    • Be available during program hours on designated evenings throughout the ministry year.
    • Assist and lead in other Children, Youth, and Family programming as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or a two-year degree with two years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates a passion for faith, a love for God, and a commitment to serving children, youth, and their families.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities; capable of handling multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Adept at utilizing various communication methods (newsletters, websites, emails, phone calls, notes, announcements, presentations, texting, etc.).
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding staff, members, and visitors.
  • Exhibits sound decision-making skills.
  • Supports the theology of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic nature of ministry work.
  • Recognizes the importance of teamwork in a large church setting.
