Job Summary

The Machinist I is a key member of our Machine Shop team, responsible for setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes to produce high-quality products that meet or exceed design specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety First
    Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and procedures, and reporting any hazards or incidents to management.
  • Machine Operation
    Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce high-quality products, and create and document straightforward programs as needed.
  • Inspection and Documentation
    Inspect in-process products to ensure they meet requirements, and make adjustments to machine tools as needed. Document measurements on inspection sheets when required.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    Have a working knowledge of machine tools, equipment, materials, and inspection methods, and be able to setup and run previously run jobs in work centers. Be able to program, setup, and run straightforward jobs on at least one piece of equipment.
  • Teamwork and Communication
    Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Continuous Improvement
    Strive for excellence by increasing product knowledge, trying new ideas and machining techniques, and training on new equipment.

Requirements

  • Education
    High School Diploma or Equivalent with some machining/mechanical background.
  • Skills and Experience
    Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to work in a team environment, and experience with CNC machines and manufacturing processes. Basic computer skills for time reporting and facility safety inspections.
