Rural Family Medicine Residency Program OverviewThe Rural Family Medicine Residency Program is designed to provide broad-spectrum training and common procedures important in caring for underserved populations across diverse settings. The program will focus on serving the underserved in the urban population in Richmond, VA, in the rural area of South Hill, VA, and internationally. We plan to have our first class of residents in post no later than July 1, 2023.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate dedication to Family Medicine and lead by example in promoting a culture of inquiry and inspiring high-quality, evidence-based healthcare for all.
- Responsible for monitoring faculty appointments, assignments, outcomes, and proper conduct of educational programs.
- Supervise, direct, evaluate, and administer the Family Medicine Education Program.
- Provide direction and leadership necessary to obtain and/or maintain accreditation with the Full Residency Review Committee.
- Conduct ongoing review of the residency program as required by RRC and participate with the Department Chair and other Residency Leadership in recruiting and making recommendations for improvement in educational programs within the Department of Family Medicine and Population Health.
- Assure that services are performed in accordance with and sufficient for compliance with the requirements of all required accrediting bodies.
- Continual improvement of the Family Medicine Residency Program with a full accreditation by the ACGME.
- Serve as a member of VCU Health's Graduate Medical Education Council.
- Perform duties as are appropriate and necessary to the position and operation of the VCU Health Systems and the Family Medicine Residency.
- Able to obtain license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Completed an accredited residency program in Family Medicine.
- Certified and recertified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
- Five or more years of Family Medicine experience.
- Three to five years of experience as faculty in a Family Medicine Residency Training.
- Past experience in providing direct patient care to underserved populations across multiple settings.
- Willing and able to care for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
We offer a competitive salary range of $240,000 - $300,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
