We are seeking a capable Volunteer Program Manager to cultivate and sustain a dedicated volunteer workforce that supports our various initiatives. This role encompasses all necessary activities for the recruitment, training, orientation, supervision, and ongoing support of volunteers across different programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the organization's volunteer program by collaborating with leadership to recruit, place, supervise, and support volunteers.
  • Engage with the local community to identify and recruit volunteers to meet the needs of our programs.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations and businesses to further the mission of Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family & Children's Services.
  • Screen and interview potential volunteer candidates, guiding them through the onboarding process.
  • Contribute to the design and execution of programs, events, and training sessions that promote volunteer engagement and recognition.
  • Work alongside program directors to onboard, schedule, and support volunteers within their respective areas.
  • Conduct orientation and specialized training for volunteers.
  • Organize volunteer recognition events and engagement activities.
  • Supervise volunteers as needed and gather feedback for continuous improvement; recommend adjustments to services and programs based on evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records for the volunteer program.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to assess the needs and performance standards for volunteer services.
  • Assist in developing and updating procedures and ensuring the Volunteer Manual is current.
  • Collect and analyze data on volunteer trends, providing monthly reports on activities, engagement, and retention.
  • Identify and reach out to potential philanthropic volunteers to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Participate in volunteer pantry programs and other residential initiatives as required.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications to develop and implement volunteer campaigns and recognition events.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of volunteer campaigns and placements within the organization.
  • Foster a culture of leadership among volunteers and within the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree required; two years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with volunteers in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong presentation, public speaking, and community relations skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Experience in a collaborative environment that values teamwork and self-motivation.
  • Valid driving record and proof of automobile insurance.
