Position Overview

A Senior Controls and Automation Engineer is sought by Automationtechies, a prominent company in the natural gas and energy sector, dedicated to delivering sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions. The engineer will focus on designing and developing both hardware and software automation and control solutions for Gas Control, Operations Dispatch, and various field locations, including processing plants and gate stations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and deploy technologies and system architectures to enhance the cyber security and reliability of the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) landscape, including the evaluation, testing, analysis, and formulation of threat prevention strategies.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of process control systems, communication networks, and information systems to identify system vulnerabilities within the ICS framework, assess associated risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain a precise software and firmware management database for the ICS environment to reduce cyber risks.
  • Identify necessary software and firmware updates through thorough testing and documented analysis.
  • Develop, validate, and document procedures for testing and implementing software and firmware updates.
  • Analyze ICS networks to identify cyber risks and propose solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities and enhance security posture.
  • Troubleshoot ICS networks to resolve communication issues.
  • Diagnose SCADA applications and PLC programs to address operational challenges.
  • Evaluate cyber security vulnerabilities within SCADA applications, PLCs, and RTUs.
  • Program PLCs and RTUs using vendor-specific industrial programming languages for the automation of Gate Station control and monitoring of flow, pressure, temperature, and odorization of natural gas, as well as for managing compressors, boilers, pumps, and valves in plant operations.
  • Develop SCADA applications and HMIs using vendor-specific programming languages to create a graphical interface for the gas distribution system.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess US Citizenship or a Green Card.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with industrial control systems is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of SCADA applications, PLC hardware, and PLC programming is essential.
  • Strong understanding of process control and measurement theory, as well as electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical instrumentation systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex Industrial Control Systems (ICS) equipment and processes.
  • Effective communication skills to convey ICS operational requirements to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with control systems in natural gas and propane processing, storage, and handling facilities is preferred.
  • Experience with network technologies, cyber security, Windows Servers, and relational databases is advantageous.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation is required.

Software Utilized: Allen-Bradley PLCs, AB PanelView Plus HMI, Cisco, RUGGEDCOM by Siemens, Nozomi Networks, ClearSCADA/Geo SCADA from Schneider Electric.

To comply with state regulations, the annual base salary range for this position is provided as a guideline. The final offer will consider the candidate's work experience, education, key skills, and the salaries of current employees in similar roles.
