Nurse Residency Program Overview
The Nurse Residency Program at Texas Nursing Services is a comprehensive training program designed for new graduate nurses. The program offers specialized training in Med/Surg units, with a focus on oncology, orthopedics, trauma, neurology, and general medicine.
Program Structure
- Part 1: StaRN Training (5-8 weeks): Classroom training, simulations, certifications, and charting systems training.
- Part 2: Clinical Preceptorship (7-8 weeks): Hands-on training at the hospital with one-on-one preceptor guidance, development meetings, and coaching.
- Part 3: HCA Residency (remainder of 1st year): Transition to full-time roles, mentorship, monthly meetings, and completion of an evidence-based capstone project.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school within the past year.
- Current SC RN license or multi-state compact license (or ability to obtain).
- Program requires a 2-year full-time commitment with potential monetary responsibility if not fulfilled.
- Strong communication skills and self-motivation essential.
