Job Title: Registered Nurse - Surgical ICU

UC San Diego Health is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) team. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse - Surgical ICU will be responsible for identifying and implementing nursing interventions and evaluating results for a wide variety of patient populations. You will direct and act as a resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned, promoting compliance and support of policies. Achieving trust in professional collegial relationships is essential in this role.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment.
  • Identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results for a wide variety of patient populations.
  • Direct and act as a resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned.
  • Promote compliance and support of policies.
  • Achieve trust in professional collegial relationships.
Requirements:
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Current PALS certification, or must obtain within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must have two (2) years of recent acute care adult Surgical or Trauma ICU RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BSN or MSN.
  • CCRN certification.
  • Two (2+) or more years of recent Surgical/Trauma ICU (trauma, neurosurgery and general surgery) experience in a level 1 trauma hospital.

UC San Diego Health is a Magnet designated organization, which is a prestigious recognition that applies to only 10% of all U.S. hospitals. Our Surgical ICU at UC San Diego Medical Center serves a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, and treats approximately 2,000 Neuro, Ortho, Spine, Transplant, Cardiothoracic and General Surgery patients a year.
