We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Monitoring Tech to join our team at Queen's Health System. As an Anesthesia Monitoring Tech, you will play a critical role in providing hemodynamic and physiological monitoring assistance during anesthesia procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Provide hemodynamic and physiological monitoring assistance during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia.
- Perform first-line maintenance on anesthesia equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Essential: standing, sitting, walking, stooping/bending, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting usual weight of 20 pounds up to 45 pounds, pushing/pulling usual weight of 45 pounds up to 50 pounds, carrying usual weight of 45 pounds up to 50 pounds, reaching above, at, and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, frequent gripping of an object.
- Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
- Frequent: climbing stairs, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
- Occasional: kneeling, crawling, squatting.
The Anesthesia Monitoring Tech will work in a fast-paced environment with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions. However, the candidate should be prepared to work in a setting where they may be exposed to:
- Body fluids, blood products, and communicable diseases.
To be considered for this role, the candidate must possess the following qualifications:
- Education/Certification & Licensure: Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field is preferred. Certification in Anesthesia Technology with the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT) is required. Current certification in Basic Life Support at the Healthcare Professional Level is also required.
- Experience: One (1) year of experience as an Anesthesia Monitoring Tech or Cardiac Tech is highly preferred. Knowledge of procedures relating to sterile and aseptic techniques and infection control is essential. Experience operating blood gas analyzing machines and anti-coagulation instruments is preferred.
