Job Summary:

The Cafeteria Monitor is responsible for providing supervision to elementary students during lunch period. This is a part-time position that typically requires 2-3 hours of work per day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain acceptable standards of behavior in the cafeteria.
  • Supervise students entering and leaving the cafeteria, and assist with the seating process.
  • Monitor social behavior of students and enforce cafeteria procedures and rules.
  • Maintain a clean and appetizing environment for students to eat lunch.
  • Report inappropriate student behavior to the appropriate personnel.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a school cafeteria is preferred.
  • Light independent judgment is necessary to establish order in the cafeteria.
  • Regular contact with internal and external school personnel is required to discuss issues of moderate importance.
  • Ability to work with students in a congenial and nurturing manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Work Environment:

This position is located in a school setting, primarily in the cafeteria. The work environment is light duty, with occasional standing, sitting, or stooping, and light lifting or carrying of 20 pounds or less.
