Job Responsibilities:We are seeking enthusiastic Certified Teachers for Grades 1-2 and 3-5 to facilitate our after school STEM classes in various districts. The specific class you will lead will align with your interests and the established curriculum. Topics may include Robotics, Coding, 3D Printing, Virtual Reality, Graphic Design, Wizard Science, Science of Bubbles, STEM Challenges, Space Science, and more. In addition to teaching, your responsibilities will encompass preparing materials, setting up the classroom, ensuring a clean environment post-class, and overseeing the safe departure of each student.
Key Details:- Nerding operates in multiple schools across the designated areas.
- Instructors will conduct one class per school quarter at 3 to 5 different locations.
- Classes are structured over 6 weeks, meeting once weekly.
- Typical class times are Monday to Friday from 2:15 PM to 3:45 PM (with some Wednesday sessions from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM).
- Each class accommodates a maximum of 20 students, supported by one teacher and one adult assistant.
- Certified Teacher (with some exceptions considered)
- 2-5+ years of classroom experience
- Availability for 3-5 weekdays per week
- Current AZ fingerprint clearance
- CPR Certification (preferred)
- Strong classroom management abilities
- Energetic and engaging teaching style
- Encourages active student participation and learning
- Passion for teaching and STEM education
The pay rate is $40 per hour, equating to $480 per class. Instructors teaching at 5 schools throughout the academic year are eligible for a $400 bonus, leading to a potential total earning of $10,000.
Training and Support:While prior experience in teaching science and STEM subjects is advantageous, comprehensive training will be provided. The curriculum is fully developed, and you will have the opportunity to receive one-on-one training, shadow experienced instructors, and co-teach until you feel confident leading a class independently.
Grade Levels:We offer curriculum tailored for grades 1-2 and 3-5. Please indicate your preferred grade levels when applying.
