About the Job

Roto-Rooter Services Company is seeking a skilled and experienced Excavation Laborer to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining heavy equipment, including backhoes and mini-excavators, to perform sewer and water services repairs and replacements.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including backhoes and mini-excavators, to perform sewer and water services repairs and replacements.
  • Follow OSHA and Roto-Rooter safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Interact with customers to provide excellent customer service and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Perform manual labor in open excavations, including digging and hauling materials.
  • Work in confined spaces and open trenches to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Direct interaction with vulnerable populations, such as children or elderly, may be required.
  • Extensive driving to customer locations in a timely and professional manner may be required.
  • Enter customers' residences to provide trustworthy service and solve problems.
Requirements
  • Construction experience in both residential and commercial settings.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and open trenches.
  • Complete jobs within specified time lines.
  • Current CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Trenchless water, sewer & gas experience a plus.
  • Work a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends.
Compensation and Benefits

Excavation technicians are paid an hourly rate of $17.00 to $20.00 during training. After training, they are paid an hourly rate at or above the minimum wage for all hours worked. The hourly pay rate may vary, depending on whether the pay is for base pay paid at the employee's base hourly rate (minimum wage), or administrative pay for administrative hours worked (between minimum wage and $). Excavation technicians also have the potential to earn commissions at the rate of 16-22% of revenue depending on the revenue category. In addition, there are times when an excavation technician will be paid per a daily job rate ranging from $260 to $400.
