Youth Development Specialist

Family Resources Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our residential program, you will play a vital role in providing care and supervision to our clients, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision and interaction with residents, participating in all shelter activities.
- Conduct intake screening and paperwork, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Respond to incoming telephone calls, providing information and crisis intervention as needed.
- Assist with planning and leading recreational activities, promoting a positive and engaging environment.
- Transport clients to various community locations, ensuring safe and reliable transportation.
- Attend all mandatory agency and staff meetings, staying informed and engaged.
- Monitor division of chores and completion of tasks, maintaining a clean and organized shelter.
- Supervise the self-administration of client medications, documenting in shelter records.
- Verify medication upon intake and each shift worked, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Implement the program's Behavior Motivation system, promoting positive behavior and development.
- Maintain client demographic information, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Document daily client interaction and case management contacts, providing valuable insights.
- Prepare and serve meals in the cook's absence, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Coordinate and organize activities and events for youth, promoting engagement and fun.
- Perform all other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of general work experience, with at least one year in a direct contact role with youth at risk.
- Associate's degree in behavioral science or related field may be substituted for two years of general work experience.
- Computer literacy and competency, with ability to learn and adapt to new systems.
- Efficient planner, with ability to organize and schedule work priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and judgments with youth safety and security foremost.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, maintaining discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to accept responsibility, follow through on supervisory direction, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and respect.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, learn and utilize behavior management skills and techniques.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner, both orally and in writing.
- Background compliant with requirements of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
- Valid Florida driver's license, clean driving record, and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to pass a competency exam related to positive youth development and other related elements of position requirements within the 90-day probationary period.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to lift 10-15 pounds regularly.
- Frequent sitting, standing, and/or walking.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers.
- The ability to hear and respond quickly to sounds.
- Close, distance, and peripheral vision.
- Frequent driving.
