Magnet Medical is seeking an experienced Electrophysiology Specialist to join their team in Boise, Idaho. As a key member of the medical staff, you will be responsible for performing high-quality electroencephalograms (EEGs) to measure and record electrical activity in the brain.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled EEG Technologist with excellent patient care skills to work as part of our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation:
    • Determine the appropriate EEG procedure based on patient medical history and physician orders.
    • Explain the EEG procedure to the patient, ensuring they understand the process, its purpose, and any necessary preparations.
    • Verify patient identity and obtain informed consent if required.
    • Clean and prepare the EEG equipment, ensuring proper functioning and calibration.
    • Position the patient correctly for the EEG procedure and ensure comfort throughout the test.
  • Performing EEG Procedures:
    • Apply electrodes to the patient's scalp using conductive gel or paste for proper electrical contact.
    • Monitor the patient during the EEG procedure to ensure correct electrode placement and signal quality.
    • Operate EEG equipment to accurately record brain electrical activity.
    • Observe and record patient responses during the test, noting any events such as seizures or irregularities in brain activity.
    • In certain cases, conduct sleep studies or long-term monitoring EEGs as ordered by the physician.
  • Patient Comfort and Safety:
    • Evaluate patient safety and comfort during the EEG procedure.
    • Address patient concerns and provide reassurance throughout the test.
    • Ensure patient privacy and dignity while positioning them for the test.
  • Image and Data Quality:
    • Review and monitor EEG recordings in real-time for diagnostic quality.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues that may affect recording quality.
    • Document all relevant information regarding the procedure, including duration, electrode placement, and patient reactions.
    Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • ABRET certification or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with EEG equipment and technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.

The salary package is competitive and based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week, with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
