Corteva Agrisciences is seeking a highly skilled Phenotyping Specialist to join our team in Miami, MO. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for providing phenotyping support on high-priority programs, ensuring all advanced phenotyping-related activities are planned and collected in a timely manner according to company standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Lead data collection efforts for maize and soybean testing programs, ensuring high-quality data.
- Validate and ensure the accuracy of collected data.
- Use technology (drones, iPads, software tools) to collect, evaluate, and distribute data following detailed protocols.
- Provide data summaries and perform data analysis.
- Assist with corn nursery pollination and harvest activities, ensuring proper handling of all harvested samples.
- Support root and stalk lodging screening.
- Help with seed lab activities, including spreadsheet manipulation, seed sorting, inventorying, and supervision of hourly employees.
- Maintain phenotyping equipment and coordinate with regional phenotyping and logistic leads to ensure equipment availability.
- Travel to offsite locations, generally within Missouri, with extended hours during peak seasons (April/May, July, September).
- Bachelor's degree in agronomy or related field.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic database entries, image processing).
- Ability to independently deliver solutions by asking the right questions, identifying necessary data sources/features, and producing actionable results.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and attention to detail; passion for solving problems using new techniques and 'can-do' attitude.
- Proficient writing, speaking, organizational, and computer skills are needed.
Will be required to do physical lifting and work outdoors and in varying ergonomic environments. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds. Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including shift work. Additional overtime hours, weekends, and overnight stays might be required during seasonal peak periods like planting and harvest.
