Oncology Bone Marrow Transplant Physician Assistant

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive care to patients undergoing bone marrow transplants at the Brown Cancer Center.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial status, utilizing interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
- Collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans and ensure timely and compliant documentation.
- Prescribe medications, blood tests, and diagnostic studies as necessary.
- Request consultations from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
- Evaluate and interpret diagnostic study findings.
- Communicate patient care information to collaborating physicians.
- Initiate actions to implement therapeutic plans and ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary conferences to ensure quality care.
- Provide symptom management for side effects related to oncologic treatment.
- Assist with admissions and work collaboratively with other healthcare disciplines.
- Maintain oversight of survivorship programs and clinics.
- Share clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel.
- Document and report care in an accurate and timely manner.
- Work effectively with others to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice and research by participating in clinical research and leading scientific inquiry efforts.
- Master of Nursing degree from an accredited institution (APRN).
- Current licensure in the state of Kentucky as an APRN.
- National certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Current DEA certificate without restriction.
- CPR and BLS current (APRN).
- Current certification and licensure in the state of Kentucky and/or Indiana as a Physician Assistant.
- Professional experience in subspecialty is strongly preferred.
- Current ACLS/BLS required.
