We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Security Engineer to join our Core Security Response team at Datadog. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the stability and integrity of our systems and data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead our security incident response program, serving as a hand-on technical leader accountable for responding to threats.
  • Identify strategic investments to improve security incident response and develop a roadmap with engineering management.
  • Design and implement tools, systems, and programs to enhance IR capabilities and strengthen Datadog's security posture.
  • Coach and mentor team members, serving as an ambassador for the team across Datadog to advocate our mission.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our work delivers continuous business value and aligns with existing processes.
  • Investigate, contain, and remediate security threats, leading under pressure and making decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Triage automated alerts and signals in Datadog Cloud SIEM to respond to emergent threats.
  • Work with our Threat Detection team to tune and calibrate signals for maximum value.
  • Conduct post-incident analysis to enable Datadog to learn from security incidents, ensuring blameless and actionable postmortems.
  • Create regular training and drills for the incident response team to ensure readiness.
  • Participate in purple team exercises, tabletops, and cross-functional game days with other security teams.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies to ensure Datadog's preparedness.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in security incident response, with a focus on cloud environments and multi-team/multi-department incidents.
  • Leadership experience in cross-team initiatives, bridging security engineering and infrastructure domains, with a strong track record of delivering projects with business value.
  • Strong understanding of security technologies and systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and authentication systems.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and distributed systems in the cloud, as well as cloud technologies like AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Experience with post-incident analysis, writing postmortems, and working cross-functionally to identify and solve systemic problems.
  • Experience building and maintaining tools to assist with incident response and other security tasks, with proficiency in Go and Python.
  • Strong ownership, ability to work outside comfort zones, and empathy, collaboration, and excellent communication skills.
