As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and custodial duties to ensure the upkeep of our county buildings and provide a safe and healthy environment for employees and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Custodial Services: Clean and maintain lavatories, windows, walls, woodwork, doors, furniture, floors, and other areas of the facilities.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Maintain sidewalks, parking lots, and other outdoor areas, including snow and ice removal.
  • Supply Management: Track supply usage and maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Equipment Operation: Prepare, maintain, and operate custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, shampooers, mops, and other equipment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed, supplies used, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in maintenance or custodial work preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, operate and maintain custodial equipment, and understand various safety protocols.

Working Conditions:

  • Work Environment: This position requires working in various facilities within Van Buren County, including outdoors and under adverse conditions.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift/carry up to and exceeding 50 pounds, climb ladders, crawl in small spaces, crouch, stand, and walk for extended periods.
