Job Description:

The pharmacy technician, working under the supervision and instruction of a licensed pharmacist, performs procedures and duties relating to the service's Scope of Care.

This will include preparation of both sterile and non-sterile medication dosage forms and special project assignments.

The pharmacy technician serves as the initial contact for customers seeking DME or over the counter retail services.

The pharmacy technician will gather information and enter necessary information into the company's database.

This person will also answer incoming phone calls and share limited patient information in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of sterile and non-sterile medication dosage forms
  • Special project assignments
  • Initial contact for customers seeking DME or over the counter retail services
  • Gathering information and entering necessary information into the company's database
  • Answering incoming phone calls and sharing limited patient information

Requirements:

  • Basic math and typing skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to read and follow written instructions
  • Ability to complete minimal computer functions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Retail pharmacy experience
  • Institutional pharmacy experience
  • General health care experience

Job Requirements:

The pharmacy technician must meet the requirements of the State of Tennessee and/or State of Virginia, depending upon which state the technician is employed.

Level II Requirements:

Movement into the Level II position from a Level I position requires 1) demonstrated high level competencies in computer entry and automated dispensing system functions and support.

The new hire pharmacy technician may not be eligible for the Level II position until successful completion of six to twelve months in the Level I position based on Pharmacy Services as well as Ballad Health HR policies.

Transfer into a technician position from another Pharmacy Services position or from a position in another Ballad Health department must meet the minimum six to twelve month time frame in Level I before movement into Level II can occur.

Initial Hire at Level II:

Initial hire at Level II will be considered when: 1) Candidate was a previously-employed Ballad Health Level II or Level III technician.

2) Candidate presents with > than or = to 1 years of experience and/or certification or previous technician experience.

3) Candidate presents with previous specialized experience which is equivalent to a Ballad Health service or program and meets an organizational need.

4) Final decision for hire at Level II will be at the discretion of Pharmacy Services Management.
