Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water/wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed, and odor control units.
  • Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates to regulate flow and ensure optimal treatment processes.
  • Conduct routine and preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication and minor adjustments, to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Perform manual labor, including filling and emptying machine bins, cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds, as required.
  • Operate vehicles for plant operational purposes and practice good housekeeping in assigned areas.
  • Perform field tests, including chemical, physical, and biological tests, to ensure process and odor control units are functioning properly.
  • Sample wastewater, sludge, and gases according to schedule and prepare chemical solutions as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED required; six months to two years of experience in a related position and environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment methods, techniques, and practices.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions).
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in an operations environment, 100% of the time, and may involve exposure to possible operations hazards, including fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, heavy machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work environment temperatures, slippery surfaces, water hazards, and electrical equipment.
