Position Overview:
The College and Career Coaches will extend their services to all individuals seeking career guidance, with a particular focus on youth and adults who require substantial support in career planning. These Coaches will proactively engage with students during their high school years, motivating them to pursue higher education, vocational training, or apprenticeships as pathways to achieving economic independence. This role involves collaboration with educational institutions and requires travel to various locations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct outreach initiatives to inform low-income students and their families about the significance of pursuing higher education and provide guidance on preparation, application, and financing options.
· Assist in the creation of personalized career plans and portfolios for students.
· Support students in enrolling in educational or vocational programs.
· Share insights on various careers, career pathways, and necessary educational qualifications. Facilitate opportunities for job shadowing, mentorship, internships, and other career exploration activities.
· Connect low-income students with essential support services to facilitate their transition to higher education.
· Provide information on obtaining the General Educational Development (GED) credential.
· Link educationally disadvantaged individuals to programs that enhance basic academic skills while preparing for better job opportunities and further education.
· Offer continuous career guidance to assist students in transitioning from middle school to high school, and ultimately to postsecondary education or the workforce.
· Additional responsibilities may be assigned that align with the mission and objectives of the organization.
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
· Experience in educational settings or public service is preferred.
· Candidates must demonstrate high motivation and the ability to work independently.
· Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is essential.
· Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, along with effective communication abilities, are required.
· A background check will be conducted.
