Job Summary:

The Weekend Echocardiography Sonographer position at UVA Health offers a unique opportunity to work a weekend-only shift schedule with enhanced compensation. This 12-month commitment requires working 48 scheduled weekends in a 12-month period, beginning with the first shift worked. Travel allowance is available for eligible employees traveling greater than 75 miles one way.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive echocardiograph imaging and exams.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and technical requirements for Contrast Echocardiography (LVO Doppler enhancement MCE shunt evaluation).
  • Meet the education requirement for Echocardiography Sonographer certification with either CCI or ARDMS; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Hold RCS or RDCS with CCI or RCVT with ARDMS certification within 12 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Physical Demands:

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and traveling, driving (occasionally for outreach clinics); reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: Manipulation of ultrasound transducer. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, and blood/body fluids disease.
