Development Chemist

About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Development Chemist to join our Chemical Technology Department at FutureFuel Chemical Company. As a key member of our team, you will work under the direction of an Advanced Scientist to develop new organic chemical synthesis manufacturing processes and improve existing ones.

About the Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this role include:

• Assisting in the development of new organic chemical synthesis manufacturing processes and improving existing ones
• Supporting the resolution of manufacturing issues and product quality issues
• Providing technical assistance to customers
• Planning and conducting laboratory projects and investigations of a research or development nature
• Assembling laboratory equipment, performing experiments, observing and recording details of experimental work, and documenting results in memos, reports, and other technical methods
• Performing minor maintenance on laboratory equipment and designing and ordering necessary supplies and parts to conduct chemical synthesis experiments

About the Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A strong background in chemistry, preferably with a B.S. in Chemistry or a related field
• Previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a development or research role
• Excellent initiative and self-direction skills, with a commitment to follow-through
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in laboratory equipment and software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers
