Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse Job Summary

As a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse at the University of California, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill neonates through adolescents. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 20-bed tertiary and quaternary medical/surgical intensive care unit that cares for a variety of life-threatening medical and surgical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care.
  • Function as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carry out established nursing procedures and perform related duties as required.
  • Perform nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision.

Requirements:

  • Two years recent inpatient Pediatric Critical Care nursing experience or two years of recent Adult Medical/Surgical/Neuro ICU nursing experience or two years of recent Pediatric ED nursing experience.
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California.
  • Active American Heart Association BLS Certification.
  • Active American Heart Association PALS Certification (within 6 months if transferring from an Adult Critical Care area).
