Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Project Engineer, Composites to join our team at Collins Aerospace. As a key member of our Engineered Polymer Products (EPP) division, you will be responsible for supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and Research and Development (R&D) projects. Your expertise in composite materials and processes will be instrumental in driving innovation and delivering high-performance composites for marine applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze composite parts to meet customer requirements
  • Develop and generate engineering product drawings and specifications
  • Characterize and qualify composite material properties
  • Develop and generate manufacturing work instructions
  • Lead process development and new product introduction initiatives
  • Provide first article manufacturing support and oversight
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery of products
  • Interface with customers to ensure product/process requirements are met
  • Communicate and present technical data to senior leadership
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience or Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship required for security clearance
  • Experience with composite material processing, prepreg, and infusion methods
  • Knowledge of composite material mechanical properties
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and project scheduling tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or similar degrees
  • Basic understanding of performing FEA, preferably Abaqus CAE
  • Experience with composite mold design and ply design
  • Experience with urethane materials and processing
  • Experience with fabricating bonded assemblies and Solidworks
