CNC Machinist Position

At Consolidated Machine & Tool, we are seeking a skilled CNC Setup Machinist to join our team in Devens, MA. This role is responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) Vertical Mills to perform machine functions on very close tolerance machined parts.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, with experience in operating 3 and 4 axis machines. Proficiency in CAM software, such as MasterCam, is a plus. The ability to read and understand G code programming is also essential.

As a CNC Setup Machinist, you will be responsible for preparing programs and pre-setting all tools needed for matching operations. You will also prep, position, and secure workpieces in holding devices, machine tables, chucks, centers, or fixtures. Additionally, you will set up fixtures, install tooling, install programs, enter offsets, and prove out machines.

Key responsibilities include inspecting first run pieces and making offsets as required, spot checking succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications, and documenting results. You will also recommend and help implement improvements to existing processes.
