Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Vehicle Mechanic Intern to join our team at Huntington Ingalls Industries. As a Master Trades Person, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in vehicle maintenance and repair, working closely with our experienced technicians and engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of vehicles, including trucks and diesel engines
  • Develop skills in scheduling, tracking, and assessing vehicle maintenance needs
  • Collaborate with contractors and ships' force to complete mechanical and electrical system maintenance checks
  • Participate in mission planning meetings and provide feedback on tools, schedule, tracking, assessments, and repair of equipment
Requirements
  • Must be an active-duty military personnel within the final 180 days of active-duty service
  • Must have the ability to obtain and possess a secret security clearance
  • High school education or trade school equivalent, and 6 years of related experience
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, portable electric/pneumatic tools, and bench tools
  • Reading automotive electrical and hydraulic diagrams
Preferred Requirements
  • Technical or professional certifications

Physical requirements will vary and are dependent on the Program of Instruction.
