Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer Specialist develops, implements, and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects, communicating them to internal and external customers. This role defines, develops, and transfers manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies, and systems. The Specialist develops manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes, actively participating with engineering project teams to coordinate the release of new products. The Manufacturing Engineer Specialist estimates and tracks manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. This role maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Reviewing design requirements, drawings, and parts lists for manufacturability
  2. Create processes to meet design and workmanship requirements
  3. Evaluate tooling needs and availability
  4. Assists Cable manufacturing's First Time Build team in building initial unit builds and prototype cable assemblies; updated processes as needed
  5. Reviews problem reports; make improvements and corrections to process as warranted
  6. Provide input on Engineering Changes Requests; implement changes into processes
  7. Determine root cause of failures and drive corrective actions
  8. Collects and analyzes quality related data and offers corrective action(s) to help eliminate future defects from occurring
  9. Participates in process improvement activities
  10. Writes and updates workmanship standards
  11. Provide input on engineering specifications
  12. Support OT (nights, weekends, extended hours) as needed to meet schedule requirements
  13. Ensures company financial goals are met through timely completion of processes, projects, and other initiatives
  14. Works on-site in support of manufacturing team
  15. Other responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge of cable manufacturing techniques and IPC/WHMA-A-620, class 3 workmanship requirements. Demonstrated ability to comprehend schematics, wire lists, wire diagrams, and blueprints. Due to the nature of our work, this position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance. Advanced technical and operational knowledge and experience of manufacturing of highly technical devices. Strong technical SAP ME, SAP ECC and Teamcenter experience.
